"Backtrack" combines the paranormal with mystery in a suspenseful plot twist. It was not written for sensationalism but for the story itself which is definitely refreshing. Time was taken to develop the plot. Adrien Brody does well in his role - I am not typically one to be nervous in a film but his acting was believable enough to make my heart pound a few times which is rare for me. He carries the film with solid supporting actors ... the only moment that dragged me out of the film was the ghost noise used "The Grudge". Happily, they did not repeat that mistake ... and the ambiance of the story was restored in the next scene. The plot was solid, well built and used a perfect amount of suspense throughout to resolution. Nicely done and I am adding this one to my library.
It has been a very, very long time since I've seen a Good Ghost story with no demons , no gore .... Adrian Brody at his Finest ... Great story and Greatly acted by Adrian and the others . Its a must see for sure !!
This movie was a big surprise! There were a lot of twists and turns that I did not see coming! Well Done! I rented this movie and did not put any info about it being a verified purchase in my review. I have no idea what you are talking about.
If you haven't watched a lot of horror films, sure you might enjoy this, or you might be dissuaded from ever watching another 'stupid horror' film again. The Melodrama on this one is cranked up via the music and the sad eyes. The music pretty much killed my ability to take much of the acting in the film seriously, I kept waiting for Brody to bite a knuckle and turn towards the bottom corner of the screen.
That said, the bones of this piece should've worked, and there is a pretty engaging mystery element to a crime from the character's past that almost saved the film for me. Almost. I think with more people, I could've had a riot mocking this film, but one can only roll their eyes at musical cues and sad faces so many times by themselves before they feel like doing something else with their life....right?
I watched this with my wife, who is a big Adrian Brody fan. The synopsis made me think it was going to be like The Sixth Sense. Despite similarities, it was quite different. Early on, I thought it looked predictable but was pleasantly surprised with the twists it took. Definitely worth the rental.
I didnt realize that I had already seen this movie when I bought it. As I am in traveling in Thailand at the moment, I have to buy or rent movies to view them. The actors are the only thing holding this film up. The characters aren't that compelling... The story seems too familiar. Like another viewer said, too much like 'The Sixth Sense'. The story is predictable! NOT worth a five star rating! If it's free, I'd say give it a go if you like ghosts stories, but don't waste your money. I guess I own it now...ha ha on me!
I thought this was a very good movie, I enjoyed watching it but I was on guard because of the negative reviews I saw on here. I do agree with one thing, that a lot was revealed in the movie trailer and movie summary that could have been held back. But I still really liked the movie and Adrien Brody did a great job of acting in it. With all that was revealed during the movie trailer, I still did not expect the ending that was revealed. And I won't spoil it for anyone who might venture to watch this movie. Give it a try for yourself.
