‘Dunkirk’ Scores Biggest Opening Of The Year In The UK

Dunkirk, the much-anticipated new cinematic event from director Christopher Nolan, soared to the top of the UK box office on its opening weekend debut, earning an estimated £9,500,000 across 637 cinemas, including £1,330,000 in IMAX venues, and is still going strong.

The announcement was made today by Josh Berger, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Entertainment UK, Eire and Spain.

Written and directed by Nolan, the epic action thriller Dunkirk brings the story of Operation Dynamo to the big screen as it unfolds on land, sea and air utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 65mm film.  The film opens as hundreds of thousands of Allied troops are trapped on the beach.  Their backs to the sea, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

Debuting in cinemas on July 21, the epic action thriller gives Warner Bros. Entertainment UK it’s biggest opening weekend of 2017.

Exclusive Interview: Sydney Park For ‘Wish Upon’

You might not be too familiar with the name Sydney Park, but if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead then you’ll definitely know the face. Park joined the show last season as Cyndie, the grand-daughter of Natania, the leader of the Oceanside clan. Last we saw her, Cyndie and her people were being ambushed by Rick’s posse for their arsenal of guns.

She’s actually been in the industry since she was six, when she started doing stand-up on America’s got Talent. Over the years she’s worked for Disney as well as being a main cast member on Nickelodeon show Instant Mom. Recently though, Park has been hard at work in new horror Wish Upon.

Doctor Who Christmas Special 2017 Teaser Trailer Lands At Comic-Con

The teaser trailer for this Christmas’ Doctor Who special has debuted at the San Diego Comic Con. The new special is titled ‘Twice Upon A Time’ and will debut on BBC One in the UK in its usual Christmas Day spot.

The teaser was debuted during Doctor Who’s traditional Sunday panel at Comic Con where talk obviously turned to Jodie Whittaker, who becomes the very first female doctor when Peter Capaldi’s Doctor regenerates in the Christmas episode.

Showrunner Steven Moffat spoke about the public’s reaction to Whittaker’s casting.

“There has been so many press articles about a backlash among the Doctor Who fandom about casting a female Doctor. There has been no backlash at all. The story of the moment is that the notionally conservative Doctor Who fandom has utterly embraced that change completely.”

‘Avengers Infinity War’ & ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp’ Comic Con Posters

This weekend was huge if you are a comic book, and indeed movie fan generally, as the San Diego Comic Con took place in southern California. The news cam thick and fast, and if you’ve been glued to our pages over the weekend, you’ll know what goodness came from it.

We have a couple of things to wrap up from this weekend’s events, one of them being a couple of posters for two of Marvel Studios’ big 2018 projects, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man & The Wasp.

First, here’s the Avengers: Infinity War art.

We also have the new Ant-Man & The Wasp poster, which is about to start production in Atlanta with Paul Rudd reprising the lead.

Avengers: Infinity War is due in cinemas in the UK on 27th April, 2018 and Ant-Man & The Wasp due on 29th June 2018.

Teenagers used to be the chosen kill subject in near enough all mainstream horror cinema, from Friday the 13th and Halloween, to Scream and Valentine, audiences couldn’t get enough of scared teenagers. In recent years however, things have shifted to a more mature protagonist, or failing that, a family. The likes of Insidious, The Conjuring and Sinister all focus on families being tormented by all manner of ghastly things. It’s been a while since teens have really taken centre stage, but new movie Wish Upon seeks to return to what has come before.
