The 22nd annual event will air live on Thursday, Jan. 11. It will again combine film and television honors and take place at The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.

A&E aired the Critics’ Choice Awards the last three years. Prior to the previous CW stint, VH1 aired the show.

The movie, directed by Smith and produced by Jonze, tracks Carrey’s extreme, method-like immersion into the role of Andy Kaufman on the set of Milos Forman’s “Man on the Moon.” The footage, which sat in Carrey’s personal archives for over a decade, finds Carrey baffling everyone on set (and beyond it). The project came together after Carrey sent the footage to Jonze, who brought Smith onboard.

Starring Dash Mihok, Lou Diamond Phillips, Lakeith Stanfield, Betsy Brandt, and Gregory Kasyan, co-written and directed by Santiago Rizzo, the film follows a young kid leading a troubled life, and the teach and coach who hopes to point him in a new direction.

It takes a great deal to get an audience to succumb to your film. You need to keep their attention for the entirety of the film. The best way to hook them in of course is to open strong.
Whether an action film, horror, or any other genre, setting the tone for your film is essential. Even if you know you’re going to flip things up and surprise. If you begin with subversion, then the audience can expect something a little unexpected. Of course whether they get that is down to the skill in translating a strong opening and making it last through until a strong finale. The piece is adapted from Jonze’s “Changers: A Dance Story,” a 30-minute narrative told entirely through dance and body movement. The performative piece is playing at the La MaMa Experimental Theater Club in New York beginning this Friday. The music is from Run the Jewels.
“I decided to make this 40-minute dance narrative where there’s no dialogue,”Jonze told Fallon. “All the dialogue is communicated through their dance. This is the first piece of a 30-minute film.”
“Red Sparrow” reunites Lawrence with director Francis Lawrence, who was behind the camera for three “The Hunger Games” movies. The actress plays a Russian ballerina named Dominika who becomes the newest recruit for the Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains young people like her to use their bodies and minds as weapons. Her allegiance is tested, however, when she meets an American CIA agent, played by Joel Edgerton.
